Is Ronaldo Going to Join Saudi Club: Al Nassr

Following his high-profile departure from the famous Manchester United last month, football star Cristiano Ronaldo is getting closer to signing a new team at the beginning of 2023.

Following Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Morgan in November, Ronaldo and Manchester United reached an agreement to mutually terminate this contract.

After failing to secure a move away from Old Trafford in time for the 2022/23 season, Cristiano Ronaldo disdainfully criticized the club’s lack of ambition and transfer policy along with head coach of Manchester United Ten Hag.

Ronaldo’s advisors are working on his options for the future. Saudi Arabian club Al Nasser is reportedly prepared to offer him a salary that would set a world record.

Al Nassr

Rudi Garcia, a former manager at AS Roma and Lyon, is in charge of Al Nassr. It is one of the biggest domestic clubs in Saudi Arabia and is based in the capital of Saudia i.e. Riyadh.

With nine Saudi Pro League titles, Al Nassr is Saudi Arabia’s second-most successful football club. 1st one is Al Hilal and it has 18 rivals.

Now, Al Nassr is planning to develop its global profile to challenge Al Hilal in near future. They want to compete with them on a domestic level and in the AFC Champions Association.

Contract offer to Ronaldo at Al Nassr

As per reports of Marca, the star player will officially join Al Nassr at the start of next year following the break of the World Cup.

A two-and-a-half-year agreement is said to be included in the deal. It would keep Ronaldo in the league until the end of the 2024/25 season. After that, he will turn 40.

As his contract of Ronaldo with Manchester United is expiring six months early so Al Nassr is not required to pay United a fee for him. He is a free agent and not subject to FIFA transfer window rules.

Contract Amount

According to the Marca report, Al Nassr and the Saudi government are working on a deal. Cristiano Ronaldo will receive an amount of €100 million (£86.1 million or $105 million).

The proposed salary is said to be €200 million per season. This will make him the highest-paid football player in the world.

With $110 million and $65 million in basic income, Mbappe and Lionel Messi are currently the highest-earning football players worldwide.

Why Al Nassr needs CR7?

Al Nassr made the move for Ronaldo because they want to be a major force in Asian football. They want to compete with their Arab neighbors and with clubs from China, Japan, and South Korea on a continental level.

Ronaldo is a significant step in the right direction for the club, which is eager to match the success of other Asian superpowers in attracting star players from Europe.

After the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the deal is also expected to influence Saudi Arabia’s overall bid for the 2030 tournament, with Ronaldo expected to serve as an ambassador for the host nation.
